Rear Lock Rite Couplers or No Couplers ????
« on: March 10, 2005, 02:18:26 PM »
Ok I've decided on a lock rite locker for the rear.
"Locker Front or Rear"
Now I notice that there are two choices for the rear locker
with Couplers and without.

Can anyone tell me the difference? ???

I looked at powertrax web site and in the diagrams it shows the couplers.
When you open the pdf file for suzuki it says one model is designed to work with stock side gears and the other replaces them.
Did I just answer my own question?
Any way I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this are.
Thanks Again.

You won't need them, use the
good side gears you have in your diff

Ditto.

I'd suggest to use your existing side gears.

there is very good instructions with the lockright and it shows u how to determine weather or not u need to replace them. u may want to order them and return them if u don't use them. however i did not order any and used my stock ones.

loc-rites come either for stock side gears with  coarse cogs or come with there own side gears with a finer cog that will slip if you bend an axel or housing.

Thats it, there might be a couple of thick looking washers with it, just take out your four spider gears (yours might have two) and put those in and check for proper clearence torque that Bad boy back together and make sure you mark the one side adjustment that you take appart so that it goes back in the same place, use some loc tite on the small bolts that you take out if you want, I would use the blue type and your down the road.

Locker came today Smallest parts I have ever seen. and the smallest box. but for 175.50 with free shipping from central4wd.com I'm not complaining.
I'm hoping it doesn't take me too long to put in.
