wind noise?

Sorry i coulnt find the answer else where and i am really interested in buying one.

If it has a good-fitting top and theating system is in good-working order, the answer, relatively-speaking, is no.

Ragtops are going to be noiser than hardtops.

I have both, hard top & soft top. I always switch to the hard top in the winter. It still leaks in windy snow storms, but it is a convertible after all. Snow brushes also scratch soft top windows ;)

I have a soft top, so here's my .02


It no longer fits over the rear corners....there's some noise...but not a terrible amount.  My heater sux, so it gets quite chilly when I'm on the highway....BUT, I have several other holes in various places.  Good thing my Tracker isn't a boat.    ::)   

It's got the flip front piece, so in the summer I just pop the clips and throw it back.  Instant sunroof!

All in all....I like the soft top.  Even my old ragged out one.  And new ones from Best Top are about 1/10 of the price of a new hard top.

Both my softtops (92 & 95) have great heat!!  Being such a small space, it doesn't take long to heat the whole cabin.  Much better than our other vehicles.  They are noisy though I think that depends on the top.  The new Bestop replacement I bought for my 95 is much noisier than the worn out original was.

I had a '96 and have the '03.  Both tops in good shape, neither leaked water, but there were a few more drafts in the older truck.

Noise-wise, the '96 wasn't as loud as most Jeeps I've been in, but a high-dollar stereo would have been a waste.  The '03 only really gets loud around 75 MPH.  Compared to the '96, it might as well be a sedan.

My most common configuration in the summer is top up, all windows down/removed.

I just picked up a 96 with the original top in good shape. It doesnt leak, and seems very dry inside for the Oregon coast. The heater works well, and the top doesnt seem to make any noise. There is more road noise of course, but no flapping or anything like that.
