I don't know anyone who has wheeled a 2wd but 4wds go pretty good in 2wd. and a locker always helps

I've been thinking that a 2wd with a locker would probably be pretty awesome for 90% of the offroading that I do. I'm keeping my eye out for a cheap one...

Why not? just weld up that diff or throw a lunch-box locker in it and have some fun. I'd do it if I found a dirt cheap track/kick.

Are there any problem with using a vehicle with locked differential on the road?.  90% of my driving will be commuting to work and around town.  Is turning affected?  I have drove tractors that you could lock the rear differential on and they did not turn very well.  Is there a cheap way to have a locker without it being locked all of the time.  Air lockers are out of my range.  How does a spool work?

2wds can get around pretty good as long as the stay light and they have to be locked.

Here is some pics of one of our members 2wd in action.

How does a spool work?

basically, a mini spool replaces the spider gears in the diff, and locks the two axleshafts together, so both wheels always turn the same speed. its the same as welding a diff, but less likely to break stuff.
