Rear Main Seal
« on: November 19, 2003, 10:17:12 PM »
My Rear main seal went this past weekend. I was wondering if anyone knew how hard it was to replace. How long it takes or what it entails. I was wondering if I just have to drop the tranny or if I need to remove the engine. Please help because i'm supposed to be going from New Hampshire to Florida next wednesday!

remove trans, flywheel/flexplate, pull old sealCAREFULLY!!
Don't scratch the crank seal surface !!!

Now tap new seal into place using a large round socket that
fits the seals size, this might not work too, if not
you have to remove the seal housing, 2 bolts in pan, 5 bolts
on block, and remove / install this way.
