Hey Hotrod...
« on: September 04, 2007, 07:43:05 PM »
A buddy of mine just bought a Tracker and the calmini 3+3 lift.  He wants to put 32x9.5s on it.  I recall you saying in a post that you have 32s with stock gears and no engine mods...how does that work for you on road, off road and highway??  Thanks man!!

my 95 5spd 16v Kick wasn't that bad.
not much use for 5th gear on anything less than a down hill.
Drove it that way for the first year
on 32x10.5 SuperSwamper radials.
But for crawling, it's alittle hard on the Clutch.
For mud or trail riding, 4lo works good.
I'd go with the T-case gears next.
Not great but livable.

really?  didnt know that...i was thinkin bout goin for the combo lift with 32s too...i just cant afford gears...you think header, full 2in ehhausts, and like a k&n cold air intake would help turn them tires without gears?

I'm not sure thats true. ISTR seeing a dyno chart comparing both and the 16V and 8V were the same through the lower part of the rev range. The difference was that further up the 8V levelled off and the 16V kept going.
My 33s measure about 32 now and with the stock 8V engine and gearing it was a real slug on the road. Noticably worse offroad on any kind of incline or descent too.

Proper front and rear gearing are the best solution.Power mods are allways welcome, but addressing the real issue is the best first step.
