1990 Tracker Axle Swap
« on: February 11, 2007, 04:10:57 PM »
Hey all.

Im a new member from Canada.

I have a 1990 Tracker. I was reading about how calmini makes a solit axle swap kit for the tracker. Is this true? I am really interested in swapping axles. In the article they said that no welding was required which is good cuz I don't own a welder, I can definately get ahold of one but "bolt on" kit would be nice. But it kind of sounds too good to be true.

What would be the best way to go about this swap? I have been hearing thigs about Toyota axles working nice under them. You guys are the experts.

What should I do? ???

Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty sure it's Trail Tough thats offering the Toy axle conversion. It looks pretty nice.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

I was thinking, would it be worth it to do the swap? I just want to make the truck more aggressive and cooler looking, while being able to handle going off roading (not moab or anything) but ya know the usuall light sunday rip! I want to swap axles to widen the wheelbase thats all. Cuz with a lift those things are deathtraps!.

And another thing, if i were to do the swap I probably would keep it as a daily driver. Is it worth it? I would definately rebuild the 1.6 but would that be enought to push those bigger axles around?

Soo many questions.

Southern Alberta btw!
(oh yeah, being from Whistler, do you do any mountain biking?)

All help is appreciated!

Thanks

That's a lot of cash for the occasional Sunday rip. I have a 3" body liftt and run 31" tires here like many and it's my daily driver, I don't find it to be tippy at all. If you're just looking for cool and occasional off roading have a  look around here and you'll probably find a much cheaper solution.........but then again I'm a cheap guy, but I like to think of myself as thrifty!
