About to buy a tin top
« on: February 21, 2008, 02:49:22 PM »

It's a white one with basically brand new tires, I went to look at it and everything looked good and rust free (except in one small spot behind the rear fender, but it is pretty dirty.  I didnt get to test drive it, (seller was out of town), but i got to climb on inside it, and it seemed pretty cool.

The only thing i noticed was that the stock rear fender was seperated from the fender part that wraps around the side, it looks like it just needs a bolt.

Here is the car: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=236936396&dealer_id=61814835&car_year=1988&model=SAMUR&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=200&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=SUZUKI&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=95124&advanced=&end_year=2008&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=93

it has a 3" shackle lift.

What questions should i ask him before i buy it (or not) This is my first car and i dont know a whole lot about cars.

also-- it is regestered in Arizona, how hard and expensive is it to transfer it to California?

That looks nice, I would see if he would take it across the border and smog it for you first, that could be the expensive part.

That's even better but, you stated that it was registered in AZ. It will need to pass smog in CA to be registered there. I would agree with mrfuelish and see if the seller is willing to take it down and have it tested. If it won't pass you could end up spending more than you anticipated just to get it registered.

If you live in cali then you should know that it is the sellers responsibility to have it smoged befor you buy it.  if you have to ask how much you can't aford it.

That I didn't know. I (thankfully) live in OR, and Josephine county doesn't require smog testing.
