98 GEO Tracker Purchase
« on: December 16, 2008, 06:08:59 PM »
I'm looking at a 98 Tracker to replace my 95 Sunrunner. It's a 2-door convertible with manual trans. Needs rocker panel work, an alternator and a top(but I already have these) also needs the radio/HVAC dash trim piece(don't have). The plan is to buy it and be driving it in a day or two, test drive for a week or two and sell off my 95.  It's been sitting for some time so I'll need to do some brake work, I think it may have ABS which I'm very unfamiliar with. Any known problems or expensive parts I should know about? This is also a first to me for OBDII, and am a little worried I might run into problems. Am I being paranoid? This will probably be my last Sidekick/Tracker in this generation, so I want to make sure I'm making the right descision changing from a 1995 to a 1998. The 98 has less rust, and less miles than my current one - so that's a bonus there, plus I'll be starting from scratch again :D

Thats sounds like a pretty good reason to buy it. The OBD2 stuff can be an advantage, if it does go wrong a cheap scanner will give you a lot of diagnostic information.
