Best overall tire for '01 XL7
« on: January 02, 2009, 03:12:03 PM »
I am fairly new to the zuki forums and come on here every once in a while to help my dad out who owns an '01 XL7.  It has a little over 100K on it and other than his puppy German Shepard chewing the engine wires to kingdom come it really has not had a problem.

But to make a long story short my dad called me today and said what do you recommend for a set of tires so I figured i'd come on here and ask for some advice.  I found some Falken 912's for about $73..

These ---->  http://www.vulcantire.com/cgi-bin/tiresearch.cgi?stock=869&f=ze912hp_t.htm

Any feedback is appreciated.

Is this for a daily driver?  I have been really happy with the Toyo All Terrain tires.  Not quite as aggressive as the BFG, great tire in the snow and rain.  It also cruises nice down the road.

It does tend to follow the grooves a bit more then the old tires, but they were road only and almost half the width of the current ones.

Well my dad mostly uses the car for town/city driving with 100mile trips here and there but not often.  A nice tire that would be good in the snow and ok in the summer would be ideal.  The BFG's sound like a deal but want $110 a piece.

We got Cooper CS4 Touring tires, they are fantastic in the rain and snow and dry weather, handles much better than before, and is great on the highway, and still get good milage.  Just my .02

For street tires, just do a google search for "Tire Review". If you want a tire that's more capable off-road, you'll want an all terrain of some kind. Anything copying BFG's tread will be good.
