96 Geo Tracker Door Trigger Wiring?
« on: April 02, 2006, 11:02:22 AM »
Ive looked everywhere.
I thought it was behind the driver side front speaker but nope.
Checked underneath by the code reader.
And both fuse boxes.

If you could help me find it that would be great!
(the main terminal for all 5 doors, when
the lights turn on, yep, still cant find it)
 :)

Hey, thanks for the hit.
Ok, I'll explain...
Im basically looking for the junction point for those leads.
All 5 doors have striker pins.  I'm looking for the point where they all meet.
"to engage"  (to activate the dome light or the door ajar light)

Ohh, got it.
I think they are white wires, I have
a 2 door so I don't have a rear gate
switch, but I do know that the pin in
the door is a ground, it grounds the
circuit to the body, and turns on the
light.

Point I was making  is you don't need
to find all the wires, you just need to
find one of them, and then essentially
you have all of them.

Now, let me ask, what are you trying to do ???

Ok, found it on the bottom of the driver door sill.
It was wrapped with many other wires like a harness.
Spliced into the only PURE white one
(there were more, some black/white, blue/white)
and hooked up it as an aux door trigger
But it didnt work.   :(

Any thoughts?   ???

On my 93 tracker I believe the trigger wire is black with a red stripe/

On the drivers side there is an annoying one that make it beep with lights on (I installed a nice kill switch for this)

There are two different variations on the pin switches also.

One has a singal wire....this draws ground from the socket (there is a metal piece wrapped around the switch)

The other has two wires..

Which do you have?

Hope this helps

LOL,

I was tired and tend to overcomplicate things as a result.

Pull the pin switch out of the door jamb and see if you have one or two wires.

If its one you should simply have to splice into that wire at any point (thats what I did)

If it is the singal wire setup try one side at a time and you will find the side you need.
*You can also do a test with a VOM Metter. Typically alarms look for the positive pickup.

On a sidenote, the drivers side door is a different only in the fact it has the beep reminder.

Ive done alot of re wiring on this portion of the car, I acually adding a kill switch for that damn sound, and added it to other doors as well.
