replacing a broken AC switch. what to do?
« on: December 06, 2006, 09:41:29 PM »
alright again, my ac switch doesnt work
(the little lever that goes from off to low and so on)

after the trim is off the black piece that holds the lever in is plainly broken
so its not making a good connection and thus not turning on

does anyone have the schematic for it?
or pics
or a link
or know how
etc

(how much do you think a shop would charge me if I took it in?)

Your asking about the blower switch right?  The one that runs the heat/AC blower (off, low, med, high).
Or are you asking about the push button AC on/off switch?
If you want to swap either one out for a different one, PM me, I think I have both around here somewhere.

I had the same problem on my tracker. I went to the junk yard and found the whole assembly (fan motor, heater controls, and ac switch) for $25.

You want to know how to change out the switches?
It is kinda self-explanatory once the trim piece is removed.  But IIRC............Remove the trim piece that goes around the radio/vents/heater controls.  There may be another trim piece, under the big trim piece, that is around the heater/AC controls that needs to have a couple of screws taken out and removed (can't remember for sure).  I think you will then find the AC switch just snaps in and the blower switch is held in with a couple of screws.  Snap the AC switch out and remove the screws for the blower switch.  Unplug the switches from the wiring harness.  Plug the new ones in.  Put everything back together.
