Tracker rust repair/body lift...Hummm
« on: February 18, 2006, 06:45:36 PM »
Hello All,

Here's some pics to look at.As you can see the rear body mounts are gone...I was installing my body lift and desided to fab up so new mounts.Instead of using the lift block,I used 2" tubing welded to the body because I had to replace it all anyway. After it was welded up..Put the fiberglass mesh and resin on to seal it up.Now have to do the other side...Look at how much clearance I got..Those are stock 205's but I know I can get 31's under it.It has 2"body and Sky 1.5" spring spacers.I'm going to be bad..I found out how to make pics small!!!Now I can post them......

Must be nice...This one looks good on the out side,The rust didn't look that bad till I started picking and cutting etc.Just wanted all the bad crap out of the way.All I can say is SALT...thats what eats them up.they put it on the roads to melt the ice.Works great.but gives cars cancer...

i used to live in ontario years ago, and i remember all the rusty cars. when i moved out to the westcoast in the late 70's cars rusted out here too. then in the mid 80's the problem seemed to go away. i though they just built better cars now, that didn't rust that easy. well i guess i was wrong, cause it doesn't snow here anymore so there isn't any salt on the roads anymore, that's why cars aren't rusty here anymore. i miss the snow in the city, but i also love my rust free rig.

time to go find some trails up the mountains were there is snow  :)

Someone told me once that the sheet metal on imports (my sami at the time) is of a different quality and more difficult to weld. Is this true?

Had to grind all the paint and undercoating off,but it welded ok.Low heat and a good welder.
