80 series landcruiser axles on my sammy? NEED INPUT!!!

my friend recently rolled his 80 series landcruiser when we were just dickin' around out at boca reservoir

his axles are possibly available to me for dirt cheap, they have the stock lockers in them.
is there any way to put them underneath my sammy?

my main worry is that my stock, tired engine will barely turn the wheels.

i just need to make this work... any advice would make my day

they will be quite a bit wider than stock. you will need to cut off all the link suspension crap and weld on leaf spring perches. You will also need to work on the electrical to get the lockers to work. I think they will be pretty close to stock samurai ratio (3.73:1) so tcase gears would be your best bet.

yeah, thats what i thought. it'd be way too much work to try and keep the coils. so a simple spring-over should do the trick? and if im way too underpowered, i can just find a lower geared t-case?

I have a freind that just did that 80 swap, the steering was the bigest problem, with the tie rods on the rear and no one makes crossover steering for that axel I'll see if i can get some pics

ps you will have to make custom spring pads for the axel because the spring will be right |removethispart|@ the pumkin

I think those are the same ones Heather put on Her four door. full floaters, four wheel disk, high pinion front,e lockers

not all were e-locked and full floaters, if thats what you want I'd double check them. I don't know what lockers you can get other then ARB if there not e-locked

If they are the stock lockers then they are electric, and are likely full floaters. You can get Lockrites for the axles if needed. Check out IH8MUD.com for all kinds of info on the axles and upgrades. It should be a good swap other than the steering as previously mentioned.
