how do no if emc is not working right

I am having a problem with my 92 tracker it do,s not run right i was driving home form work and  stoped for a bit to eat and tured the key and strared fine but do,s not move fast at all im lucky if i can to 20kms it chuggs and putts the muffler sounds like it,s popping and then the rpm,s go crazy and then dies i have changed the fuel filter,alternator  checked the oil, tranny and thay are fine

I think I have the same problem, my new ECM/ECU or whatever you want to call it will be in soon and I'll tell you if it helped  ;)
Might try and check the timing though...

If it runs. I would assume it isn't the ecm. Bad running could be a sensor. Is your check engine light on? Mine ran bad when the coolent sensor went out. But the check engine light was on all time. Also you might want to check your plug wires and plugs. Before I spent some money on some good quality wires. I would go out one day. Start it up and ran really bad. Pull the wires and find them almost falling apart. Try to pull ecm codes first though.
