zuki fire?
« on: February 01, 2005, 11:21:35 AM »
I am looking at a sammy right now that has electrical problems, The owner says that the thing ran fine until one day he put it in 4 wheel and it started smoking from under the hood and burned up some wires. Has anyone heard of this happening? How hard is it to swap out a harness?  Thanks for any help
If its not broken, break it

when putting it in 4wd in my sami, it used to turn the windshield wipers on  >:(

the problem was with the ground, under the hood, against the firewall on the drivers side, there are 2 wires going to it i think, the screw was just loose...

probably not your problem, but is having that little 4wd light working worth swapping a harness :P, just unplug it at the t-case, thats the only electrical thing happening when putting it in 4wd

If you buy that sammi, start by peeling back the factory wire wrap (black tape stuff). pay close attention in the areas around the metal clips on the block,The clips that hold the wire harness tight and up outta the way.
They will rub thru and cause a short. This happened to mine and it smoked to beat Hell until the fusable link at the battery let go.  >:(

It was the main wire to the alt. New fusable link kits cost something like $4.50ea.
