2 inch coil spacers pros and cons

Well.  I have a 1996 Kick with a 1.8 and a manual trans.  I have ordered a Calmini 3 inch body lift kit.  Which may or may not work with out some mods.  I am thinking about a 2 inch coil spacer kit because from what I can tell no one sells a suspension lift kit for a sport.  I am wondering your guys's opinions on the pro's and con's of a coil spacer.  Thank you for your input.

idk on the coil spacers. but i got a 96 with the 1.6 and i got the 3" calmini body lift i like it. the air cleaner 
is the only problem i ran into.

Coil spacers are better than a body lift in my opinion. Coil spacers give you suspension lift and room for larger tires, which increases your ground clearance. I would reccomend sticking with 1.5" spacers up front and 2" spacers in the rear, doing the front upper strut mount flip and adding longer rear shocks like 91 Crown Vic rears. 1.5" coil spacers up front will give you 2-1/4" of actual lift because of the lever/fulcrum effect of the front IFS. Putting in 2" front spacers would push the front up around 3" which is getting kinda high without lowering the diff somehow. Spacers will fit the sport just fine...

Well what about the 1.5 coil spacer in the front and 2 in the rear with a 3 inch body lift?  If you look at Jeff's 97 Sidekick sport on ebay it looks pretty good with 31's. ;D

i just got my spacers in the mail from Jeff... they are great and I would recommend them along with crown vic shocks and the strut mount flip.  My 2 inch lift total cost = $120.00

I just ordered my 1.5 inch spacers for the front and 2 inch spacers for the rear from Jeff.  He seams very nice to work with.  I am hoping he will give me some tips on my sport.   ;D ;) :D

jeffs spacers are top quality....i had some i believe energy suspension coil spacers for a heep, and they squished out after like 6 months....about 2 of those months my trucklet had no engine in it!! i noticed my lift was disappearing so i bought jeffs 2" spacers....that was a while ago....since then ive made my own 1" thick spacers to go on the top of the rear 2" spacers, as well as put on some 4 dr coils on my 95 2 dr....everyone says thats alot of stress for no diff drop...but i seriously wheel this thing like its my job or something....it is just my beater, so i drive it like that!but ive had my spacers and 4 dr coils since this spring, and havnt broke anything yet....and this winter, ive pulled MANY vehicles out of the ditch and what not....no issues there either....the best thing i can reccomend, thou...is to space your upper control arm.....mine was binding and actually bent the joint before i had my spacer for that fabbed up, so i had to replace that in the process....

Please be more specific and in depth about spacing your upper control arm.  What do you mean there.  And how do you do that.

Best bang-for-the-buck is spacers. For $200, you can have more ground clearance & fit bigger tires. Because the body lifts don't provide ground clearance, IMHO they're a waste of money on anything other than a mall crawler.

Body lift: cheap, but doesn't actually give more ground clearance
Spacers: cheap, moves the frame / diffs / gas tank etc up giving more ground clearance, but suspension travel (and therefore articulation) remains the same.
Bigger springs & longer struts / shocks: Right now, OME is really the only option. It's the most expensive ($700.00 - still cheap for what it is), but it's a "true" lift - giving better ground clearance, vastly improves ride quality, and adds articulation.

If you combine coil spacers with a strut mount flip or strut spacer and longer rear shocks, you gain ground clearance AND more travel/articulation as well...

A body lift may not directly give you more ground clearance, but they will allow you to run a taller tire that will give you more ground clearance. Bigger tires = lift

I like body lifts.  Not only do you gain lift for tire fitment, but in many ways it makes working on them easier as you have more clearance around the motor, tranny and t-case.  Also, you don't lift the COG as much as a suspension lift.  Meaining, a rig running 3" of body lift and a rig running 3" of suspension lift, the 3" body lift rig will have a lower COG and will be more stable while sidehilling.

All in all, any lifts primary purpose is to allow fitment of larger tires.  A vitrual lift will accomplish the same.  Look at the old Kaiser M17.  No suspension lift, just cut out fenders to allow big tires.  And big tires is what will give you the ground clearance you need.
