Transmission problems.... or clutch problem.
« on: May 16, 2008, 09:39:03 AM »
Looked around and didn't see any transmission post with this issue..... Just put a rebuilt transmission in my sami. Got it all back together and it won't shift into gear when the motor is running. ??? It will shift great when the motor isn't running, but as soon as i start it won't go in gear. No grinding, just resistance.

I checked the clutch cable, the shifter......everything seems good. Not sure what it could be. I also put a brand new Trail Tough Vulcan clutch in..... maybe it needs some sort of adjustment? ??? Thanks for any help.....

Clutch isn't in backwards?

Just had a buddie do that when he rebuilt his kick, he was all happy to just be getting it done.  So while he was rushing to finish he didn't put the clutch in the right way.  And it wouldn't shift with the rig running, but it did shift while it was off.

I hope you dint have this problem, cuz that sucks pulling the tranny again!!

Good luck

Just pulled the tranny. Looks like maybe the tranny arm wasn't going far enough for the throwout bearing..... find out soon enough. Does anybody have the Trail Tough Vulcan clutch? I'm trying to figure out what the phillips head screws on the pressure plate are for? Adjustment? Tried to call Trail Tough but they won't be back until middle of next week.

I dint have the Vulcan clutch, but another possibility could be the arm that goes operates the throwout bearing.  I'm not sure if you moved it or someone else.  There are dots on the arm and on the splined shaft it fits onto, you have to make sure to line them up.  If it was moved you could check and make sure its right.

not to much help, but its something to look at.

Hope that helps

;D It was the transmission arm. When it was rebuilt, it wasn't put back on at the right angle. I got everything back in and it runs good. Feels great to have the sami back on the road...... 8)
