hi im new at this i have a 1995 suzuki sidekick 5 spd 4dr and the rocker panels are rust out completely what is the best way  fix it ?

But for serious....Cut all not so good metal off....weld/rivet/screw/bolt new metal in.....bondo/POR-15/fiberglass/Great Stuff.

can i just use like square tubing to do it?

I replaced my rock panels with 2X4X1/8" rectangle tubes.  Mine were just starting to get bent up, so replaced them with something that does hold up.  The more rotted yours are, the more work it is to replace them.  It all depends on how far your are willing to go to fix it.
 
Of course the rock panels is only the start of what NEEDS to be done.  This is where replacing the rock panels got me.

This is your best option, it's easy, cheap & strong. Plus, I think it looks better, as well as raises the clearance level for a tighter rock rail(if wanted)

And it brings a smile on your face every time you drop it on a log or rock, or slide up against something unmovable and use the rail to walk around it.
The rails provide satisfaction every time I have been out.

does any one know where i can get get some metal to use i cant seem to find any where around me that sells it

We are lucky enough to have a metal shop in the area that we can visit for things like that.  You can always order it, but it is usually 35 or more to have it shipped.  What town are you located in, there might be a fabrication shop nearby that has access to the 2x4 tubing.

If nothing else, most home hardware stores carry some metal.  They might have sizes you can use.

im in rosemount mn and i checked at the hardware store and they only had 1x2

Go to a local fabrication or machine shop. They usually have a lot of stock on hand. We only have 4 employees and we probably have $100,000 in metal on hand at any given time.
