First a little background..

I have an 88 Suzuki that I bought sans engine...  Finally found an engine and am trying to get it installed and running...  My problem is that the distributor wiring that is installed on the engine does not match the wiring diagrams I have or the wiring on the chassis I have...  (It's a 1.3 but I don't know what year...)

I looked at my buddies 88 and his distributor is connected to a white, squarish connector at the top of the engine bay...  (see the first pic...)  My chassis has this connector hanging there with nothing obvious to connect to it...

My distributor has a tan round connector with no obvious place to connect it to either...  (see the second pic...)

The last pic is an overall pic of that area of the engine compartment...

My buddies Samurai matches the wiring diagrams I have available (Haynes, Ack FAQ, etc) but the wiring off of my distributor does not match color or connector...

Any ideas on how to make this work - preferably without frying the innards of my distributor...
