Trailer plug
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:21:53 AM »
If you plan on towing you'll need trailer lights. On a sidekick it is real easy to tap into the light harness behind the left side light. Since the sidekick has a separate turn and stop light you will need to get one of these magic black boxes from Napa to convert it to four wires on conventional trailers. I decided to run a flat five since I plan on running backup lights on the trailer and a flat four will still plug into it. There is a nice rubber grommet directly under the light to run your wire to your hitch area.

It looks like you missed the factory trailer light socket in the back ground of the picture!

Well possibly but i checked if there was a plug in and couldn't come up with one. Sure there is one but it still will not support back up lights on a trailer. I would bet the magic box with heat shrink connectors still might be competitive with plugins.

I know i was in a mood, if you look in the back of your first pic you cut the white plug off and hook most of the wires up there without cutting in to the tail light wires. I have done them both ways I never ever use the blue 3-m connectors that cut into the wires, other than that silicon and tape after connecting.
