1984 SJ-410 lift help
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:06:13 AM »
alright guys well heres the story, about 2 years ago i installed the rocky-road SPOA kit on my 1984 suzuki SJ-410. the whole car is lifted, longer brake lines, but my problem was the driveshaft spacers did not fit my car. I then left to college and never had time to finish the car. Well im back and this thing needs to be fixed. WHO out their has a SJ-410 and how did you fix your driveshaft problem? another thing is it seems that if the shafts are extended then the angles will be off and there will be rubbage on the joints.
thank you, pictures would be nice too

In the UK most driveshaft spacers are sold with both sets of holes. If you have the spacers already then you could redrill them.

Is there an online store that you can recommend me to? is this what you have done to your suzuki?

Spider Trax makes some great spacers, I actually got mine second hand.

If you call Hawk Suzuki (www.hawksuzukiparts.com) and tell them your situation they can make sure to hook you up with the right parts.  I switched to new axles with tracker third members and told them I was doing a SPOA and needed the new ends and they sent me back the fixed drive shafts.  Still running them just fine, 3+ years later.  :)

Anybody else have a different source for SJ410? or different configurations on the SJ410 with SPOA

You can find pictures of it all over there.  :)  As for the engine, I'll see what I can come up with.  I'm actually still running a stock engine, but with 5.12 gears and a 6.5:1 Transfer case.  Works great with the 33's, but I am a bit slow on the road.  But it's a bit better now that I have a new carb.

I currently have a SPOA with Rear Spring Up Front (RUF) and folding shackles and Ford F-250 shock towers.  The only other real drivetrain mod is the disk brakes in the back.

I've since fixed the brake lines.  :P

nice thanks alot drone. yeah sofar i only have the SPOA 5inch lift on.. i have extended brake lines...
What websites do you use to purchase all your products? I think im gonna get the longer shackles (missing link). and im gonna need to get some custom driveshafts becuase right now my car is not driveable.
what are the postives of getting the ford shock towers? since i have not purchased shocks for my suzuki yet, i still have tons of configurations to read about. Rancho? maybe the new rocky-road shocks.

The advantage of the Ford shock tower is simply being able to run a longer shock.  This means you can have more travel for your front end by just ordering whatever length you need right out of the book at your local auto store.  I actually have mine cut down to use stock shocks from a 93 F-250.

I actually built most of the parts on my SJ in the garage.  Most everything on it is a pretty basic setup, but it works for me.  What parts I usually do order is done though Hawk Suzuki, as when I first got started they where the only ones that really knew the differences between the SJ-410 and a Samurai.

I actually used the calipers and mount from the front disk brakes.  I had a few extras laying around from various front axles I had parted out over the years.  :D
