I was wondering what I needed to do to swap in a 1.6 fuel injection to a 1.3 carb.
I figure I'm going to need a 1.3 sami efi harness and to simplify things, I'm buying a conversion kit that comes with a fuel pump.
What all do I need from the 1.6? I think I need all the intake stuff ? I know  I need the starter and alternator, what about the puleys. Can I use my existing ones or should I use the 1.6's.
What else do I need? Do I need the harness for the 1.6 As well, or not.
Also, what is it going to cost since I don't have unlimited funds.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks for everything.
If you are going from a 1.3 carb'd vehicle, to a engine swap of 1.6 throttle body efi. I would go ahead and use the EFI from the 1.6 setup.
You are already adding to the vehicle. Add the correct EFI from the engine. It will be one less thing to locate on your parts round-up.
I would try and get a complete vehicle and part it out.
Who knows, maybe you will come across a deal on the 16 valve.
For what it's worth - If you are going to do an engine swap and add to your vehicle, I would go with the 16 valve.
I think both swaps, 8 valve and 16 valve, are similar in work. You will have a little bit more wiring with the 16 valve, but it isn't bad at all. Either engine will be an improvement to your vehicles driveability, and both engines are a great upgrade. I just think if you are going to do a swap, do you want to gain 20hp, or do you want to gain 40hp. With both you will get EFI.
As mentioned, refer to the thread titled something like engine swap thread. Some of the questions you are asking have been kinda answered, and there is a link to aftermarket4x4's site. Sean has a great writeup on the 16 valve install. Read it a couple of times and you will understand all aspects of the swap. The basic install for the 16 valve and the 8 valve are the same. It is just the wiring that is a little different.
I have seen people sell the 8 valve for a 16 valve swap. So, keep you eyes peeled for someone moving up. Maybe you could get a smokin' deal.
I really like both engines, heck I even have both engines in different vehicles. But, I really would skip the 8 valve and go with the 16.
Good luck, keep us posted on your swap.
