I've had this '89 Sidekick since 1993. In the late '90's I bought a new engine from Advance and had it installed by a garage after the original engine threw a rod. There are about 30-35,000 miles on the Advance engine. I stopped driving it in 2003 when I became worried with a noise. It was past warranty and I never touched it again.
I believe the mileage of the vehicle except for the engine is correct at 133,000. I never had any trouble out of the rest of the vehicle. It is an automatic and shifted fine. It has lockout hubs and all 4WD worked great.
It will start up and run now with gas poured in it. I believe the old gas in the tank has probably gummed up the in-tank filter. I did buy a fuel filter for the after tank filter, but haven't installed it.
The tires have a lot of tread on them. I do have an extra set of chrome wheels that I may sell separately. I do have the shifter knob.
The interior has no tears, though the seats and carpets could use a good cleaning.
There is one damaged area on the passenger rear quarter panel. A lady hit me in the winter and I never got it fixed. There is no visible rust on this vehicle. It will need a front windshield to be inspected. There is a crack all the way across. The front bumper is off as well.
If you're looking at building an off-road vehicle and like the Samari's then this might just be your ticket.
