My Check Engine Light Is On........
« on: December 01, 2003, 05:06:32 AM »
and I was wondering if it is because it just hit 160k miles?  The light came on exactly when the odometer turned, so I guess its time to do a 160k service, right?

BTW, its a 94 jx 16 valve.

Yup, it's because it hit 160,000 miles. It's usually a regularly scheduled maintenance light. Take a look in your owner's manual to find out what it is... I believe it's the 02 sensor, my book says to replace it every 80,000 miles. (I'm at almost 100k and I haven't replaced mine yet, I'll just run it till I buy a new one, or it starts giving me any trouble.) Do the maintenance if you want, or, if you are lazy, and you can do it yourself whenever you get time, or at least remember that it needs to be done sometime in the future....

Then flip the switch to turn the light off. On pre 96 Track/Kicks the switch to turn the light off is behind the left dash speaker on the right side of the opening. Take the speaker out, look around the right side for a little black switch, and flip it the opposite direction. If you have small hands (like me) you can reach up under your dash in that general area and feel for a switch, and flip it that way.

Hope this helps!

;D

do you flip it and leave it on the other side or turn the engine on and just bump it?

You just flip it to the *off* position. This means, take the switch, and flip it to the opposite position. It will flip back to the *on* position as it needs to.

Hey thanks for the info, I had no Idea there was a physical switch that controlled the light, I just figured the computer did it.   I'll check the manual, see if it's the O2 sensor.

Thanks.

Well I was checking out my zuk and discovered that my plugs where in bad shape.

The plugs are supposed to be gapped at .032 and theses where at .08.

After changing all 4 the car runs alot better.
