I have a love/hate relationship with water, hence the thread. ;D  Personally I can swim like a fish but my Samurai and Sidekick only float just a little bit and only in the rear...

Since adding a floatation device on the front is not really an option, I felt compelled to fix the propensity of ingesting H2O or swamping the distributor when things get unexpectantly deep. Sidekicks have nice breathers for all four drivetrain components that are suspiciously absent in many other 4x4s, even Samurais, so I thought to show what a simple fix it is to complete the great OEM thought process. Basically I extended the front diff breather to the tranny/t-case breather with some 1/4" clear/reinforced hose and joined them with a hose barb mender/T. I then routed the hose to the upper part of the firewall and reinstalled the sad factory breather cap, done!

Also, one of the little gems I've found at the wrecker is a distributor boot from a front wheel drive car, not a Suzuki item though so I'm quite sad LOL. (from a Nissan Micra :()



The rear breather is located behind the rear tail light, extend it if you want but it's very good as it is as 'they' float...

The Safari Snorkel I added is something I got from a former Zuk enthusiast, his loss and my gain. The performance increase was a bit of an eye opener for me, least of which is the visual statement it gives. On the Highway it certainly makes a significant difference in power especially at altitude on a grade, overall mpg increased as well: apx. 5%. Dust free contamination versus under the hood/fender ingestion is also quite true, apparently it's also good for really deep water too.  win/win/win ;)



I have an OEM alternator splash guard too, aftermarket/electric fans I wont run due to reliability issues. Any thoughts/ideas?

Dielectric grease on ALL under hood connections and any other connections you can reach.  ;)
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER

Nice snorkel. Put a vacuum plug on the distributor cap vent. Make sure the distributor cap seal is good, otherwise run a very even bead of silicone around the cap, let it dry completely before installing. You don't want to silcone the cap on. Trans and tcase breathers.
