CALMINI reverse shackles
« on: May 28, 2010, 11:48:23 PM »
I got my reverse Calmini shackles today, front came apart OK, and went back together fairly quick, Calmini says it shood raise the front 2 inches, Im thinking more like 3. When i get the back done Ill measure again. the rear shackles are making life difficult.

;D get a bigger hammer. They are a bit tight but will go in. Try a little lube on them.

got it done, took maybe 3 hours in the garage using a floor jack, not to bad at all. stock shocks are way to short to fit now, front end looks way higher than back but using a levle on frame shows its close to being ok. Well post be4 and after later.

What did you do with your front bumper to clear the towers?  Mine is just bent down a hair but I think it would be better if it was notched out just a bit.

i held it up to the new towers, marks how wide they were and used a hack saw to cut the bumper and then used a hammer to bend them inward.

Looks good!  Whoever did mine just grabbed the bumper and bent it down.

I'll be curious to hear what you go with for shocks.

Yeah, I'll have to do more research.  I think the shocks on mine are Calmini shocks but I can't find any numbers on them anywhere and my Sammi rides like a nightmare.

Do you have a hard copy of the catalog?  I looked briefly at their site and didn't see specs.  I'll be curious to hear what you think.  I'm gonna try to get under my Sammy this week sometime if I'm feelin up to it.  Gonna check the shackle bolts and pull the shocks and look again for any markings.

I went to the Monroe site, found the factory shocks and wrote down the ext and compressed measurements, then the mount types, after that I went thru all the shocks and found some that were 2 1/2 longer. well see how they work.
