Ok, I know this has been covered here before and is fairly easy, but after doing a few searches, I only found one pic of the of the correct relay that needed to be disconnected. I have even found an incorrect method for disconnecting the auto headlights. Seems that anyone that did explain the process with pics have let their links expire. This is a mod that you can do to keep your daytime running lights off.
Also, you will need to disconnect the Auto headlight sensor, if you want to keep your lights from coming on at night. This is for DRL's only. I keep a photobucket account just for my forum pics, so hopefully this thread will be up for easy reference whenever needed. Thanks goes out to the people who have posted on how to do this, I just wanted to add pics to the process.
DO AT YOUR OWN RISKDISABLING DRL:It is definitely not necessary to remove this panel, but it really does help to get an idea what you are looking for. There are three screws at the bottom of the panel (marked by red arrows). Remove them and 'pop' out the top clips.
In the next pic, looking through under the steering column, you will see the two controllers (thanks fordem) labeled A and B. You may not have B. The relay you will want to unplug is the silver one marked A. I saw someone write that A can also be black and not silver. I read someone write to unplug B to disable auto headlights, but that is incorrect. B is for your electric door locks. With B disconnected, you can "lock" your doors, as in beeping the horn and flashing the lights, but the locks will not actuate. Ask me how I know
Here is what it will look like if you do not remove the panel and lay on the floor and look up.
Again, I got my info from this forum, I just wanted to put the process in a neat bundle for the next guy. Hope this helps.
