Opinions - Headlights
« on: September 26, 2010, 10:19:23 PM »
Hey guys, quick opinion check:

I am brainstorming my front turn signals.  Currently they are behind the grille in the center and very hard to see with the winch in the way.

I was cruising around ebay and saw some ridiculous halo/angel eye headlights and a light bulb went off:

What if I wired the halo ring to be a turn signal?  Would it be cool or gay?  I've seen the city lights used as turn signals.  The lights would be off until I signaled, so it's not like it will be a gay amber ring the whole time.

Thoughts?

Can you get the halo ring in Amber?  Don't forget you need a driving light as well.

I don't think it would be that noticeable in daylight - and that is the point of turn signals right?

One of my cars has, for the rear turn signal, an amber bulb, behind a white lens (this is the OEM Suzuki light), and it's just not that noticeable - in fact, my son was rear ended in that car be someone who attemped to overtake him whilst he was making a turn - just never saw the signal flashing.

There might also be a legal aspect that you would need to consider - turn signals are required to have a certain brightness or light output.

I think I decided to go with these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260247649878&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

They are bright enough and I can mount them stealthy-like.

I'll just end up with an IPF H4 upgrade or some Hella's, haven't decided.  The current lights are terrible.

I just some ultra-bright replacement lights my brother found for me in the Napa catalog in my SJ-410.  Much nicer then the stock beams, plenty of light.
