Building my own skidplates ?
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:52:05 PM »
Anyone know what size (LxW) steel I will need to fab up a front skid plate and a transfer case plate ?
The plates will be put onto my 94' 2 door track.
Thanks,
Raz

Not to sound like an ass, but I think you should measure yourself, and even make up a cardboard template to help with the visual of how it will work.
One tip though, angle iron welded to the side of the frame rails makes great mounting tabs - make sure you factor in mounting before you start cutting.

The cardboard idea is a good one. I had to fab some body panels for my street fighter motorcycle I built. And we used posterboard to make the template. Then you can cut and trim for a perfect fit, then transfer that template onto steel. Good luck. Post some pics!!! I want to make some for my sammy
