suk father and son challenge

suk father and son challenge

heres the thing my dad challenged me to a build off and being competitive as i am i agreed lol but the thing is my dad  is alot richer then me and can buy all new parts for his suk as for me i have to scrange everything up so heres what i have got for nothing so far one  88  suk soft top  i had a 3 cyl diesel with a turbo given to me with a 3 speed auto trans with a rockwell transfercase cool huh but i now have to find the axles i need im thinking toy but not sure im not sure what suspension to use yet but i know im puting 36 inch mudders under it

any ideas would help lots

What is the drop front and rear drop on the transfer case?

Are you trying to build a mudder or a trail rig?

Full width axles or are you trying to stay under 76"?

You might want to cross post over to the normal forum, you might get a bit more traffic.  :)

Going for 36" tires I would say Toyota axles should be more then enough.  What is the diesel engine out of?

im trying to stay under 76 inches, and a trail rig and as for the drop im not sure till i put it up in , and how do i cross post , the engine is out of a Isuzu mine truck

Sorry, I should have been more specific about what I mean by drop.  :P

On the transfer case, does the front shaft come out on the passenger side or the drivers side?  And on the rear, does it come out the center, or is it offset to the right or left.

Isuzu mine truck?  Should make for a unique build.  How does it compare weight wise to the stock 1.3?

You could do the cheap build path.  Two lockers, the smallest swampers you can get, some body armor and a lot of throttle.  :D

ok front comes out on the pas side and the back comes out straight,  and i could just do it that way but then i wouldnt be able to stay and go where he does and i want to plow him in lmao, and for calling it a suk its just my way , and as for the weight im not sure but it shouldnt be that big of a dif

Cool, your setup properly for the Toyota axles then.  Or if you can find them, a set of Dana 44's off of a Scout 2.  :D

For the diesel, you might check to see if you need an electric pump or not.  A lot of older diesels have two stage pumps, one that pushes fuel up at low pressure and a second mechanical pump on the block that is high pressure for running the injection system.

Just out of curiosity, what is your dad building up?

he is going with a vortec 3.8 v6 a turbo 350 with the sami transfercaseand i dont know what axles yet lol

Big build.  :)

What are you going to do for the suspension?  Stick with leaves and just cut the body up, or lift it to the sky to clear those 36" tires?
