4 link VS 3 link
« on: February 05, 2008, 08:21:32 PM »
Tossing around the idea of building a link setup for the SJ.  Is there any real advantage to going with a 4 link over the simpler 3 link setup?

I think the three link has a lower center of gravity if you do any side hilling.

wow...i was told that the 3 link is actually better for articulation.....i had a simple suicidedoors.com 3 link on my bagged dakota, but it only would lower it so far.....so this past spring i switched my back half over to a 4 link setup, it lifts higher and drops lower...the only thing that ive noticed about the 2 were that with my 3 link on the |removethispart|@$$, i could make the truck sit sideways....now it doesnt have the killer side to side motion with the 4 link.....also ive been told that the 4 link can handle more h.p.....not an issue with a zuki....btw....i work |removethispart|@ skinny kidz customs part time as the chassis engineer, and im certified thru airlift to install their products...ive had my mini truck bagged for almost 10 yrs..masters degree from university of michgan in mechanical engineering, so i kinda know a little about this subject

From what i heard, the difference was the ability to fine tune your suspension.
4link is supposed to be more tune-able where the 3link is more set it and forget it.

When you say 3 wheel, you mean pick a tire in the air?

Does anyone have some pics of the 3 or 4 link system. Which is better. Love to do it to my rig.
Thanks   8)

Actually, that 3 link picture is of a Jeep, which has a weird sudo 4 link setup.  I'm thinking more like the Jeep has with the Long Arm kit, where you get rid of that upper bar and just come off the bottom one.

There used to be an Orange Zuk with a 3 link that had some great flex shots climbing on some rocks on here.  I was looking around for that but couldn't find it.
