My seats had seams ripping out, the camouflage seat covers didn't fit, and Drone 637 presented me with a set of BOMZ seats. So while I wait for the FSM for the new motor to arrive, there was time to install the new seats.
After removing the seat from the Tracker we remove the back and the bottom cushions. Then we unbolted the rails from the inside of seat, unfastened the spring (for retracting the seat) and the wire for the positioning locks.
We measured the bolt pattern on the new seats and figured the present mounting system could be easily modified. We drilled another hole in the inside rail system and bolted the new seat to it, then tried to fit it in the Tracker.
It was hitting on the center hump, so we installed a couple of 1/2 in spacers, then we measured the height of the inside frame to the mounts for the rails and cut the outside mount off that much.
We welded on a piece of 1" X 1/8" angle iron, drilled a couple of holes and painted it.
I bolted this rail system to the bottom of the seat, and hooked up the spring and wire for the seat positioning locks, and bolted the seat in place.
As this seat was an inch wider, I had to bend the seat belt mounting tab over a little more for clearance. Then I took the trim from the bottom of seat mount and installed it. Almost a perfect fit.
Newer seat in place.
The new seat sits almost exactly the same height as the old one did (measured from the roof to the seat 38.5"). This new seat seems to hold you in place. I will install the other seat tomorrow.
